Reverse Engineered Object : Process II
Reverse Engineered Object : Process II
----------------------------------------
Howdy partners! For my next steps I focused on the actual "crab" part of the object. It had a lot of curves and detailing to it that was kind of complicated trying to figure out.
Firstly, using sweep I made the actually arms of the crab. I had a very slant and too-thin version (right) but then I remeasured and got a proper path and shape so I had a more accurate version (left).
I got to the actual "base" where all the arms attach and I tried several ways to form and shape its curves and it just wasn't working right so I took a break and actually drew out how I could make this work. I decided to restart the process but start off on this "base" section first considering it was a lot more technical and detailed, and so once I got it right, it would be no problem forming the arms out of it.
I decided to split the "base" into 3 parts that I would draw flatly, then I extruded them and filleted the edge. I keep some parts un-filleted because thats where things would either join or sweep out of.
I made a little arched shaped to connect these two shapes, then I connected them all together into one.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
And thats my process II. Now that I figured out the most difficult part of my object all I have left to do are the little arms that will stem out of this "base" shape. I will use the flat/rounded rectangle shape and sweep it along a curve. Then I just need to copy this side to make the second one, add a few details like the hinge area, and then the material and rendered appearance.
That's all, Thanks!
