3D-Printed Chess Set : Final

Howdy partners! For my chess set I ended up choosing my cat option. I thought this was honestly just cute, but also had good visual hierarchy and related to the traditional chess piece visuals as well.

When I started modelling them I generally started out drawing the body with curves and then revolving for the main body. After that it was just slowly building up the little components that I then copied them and morphed based on the other piece. Before printing I ended up also tapering the King and this actually ended up being one of the best pieces structurally because it added complexity to the mesh and resulted in a smoother form compared to the other two.

I printed off the 1st three pieces because I wanted to test out my pieces but also so I can better split up my printing time. I ended up doing a brim because I was unsure about the stability of them, however looking back they would be totally fine without it. I noticed some surface irregularities but I thought that I can smooth it out with a fine sandpaper.

Afterwards I made my other three pieces. This time, before printing I also expanded the mesh so that these pieces will turn out similarly smooth as the King did.
